Today’s Gospel Reading: Matt 7:7-12
Matthew 7:7-12
Jesus said to his disciples: “Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.
“Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
“In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.”

In today’s Gospel Jesus clearly tells us to come to him and uses our own parenting example to express his sincerity and love. I believe every parent would go anywhere to aid their hurting child and at any time. Jesus is asking you and I to do the same thing in the below Gospel reading. Knock and the door will open, ask and it shall be given to you. We need to spend more time in quiet with Jesus who knows our needs, our wants, our fears and worries. He is our Father and wants us to come to him!
Visit Jesus this Lent in Mass, at Eucharistic Adoration or simply by taking 10 minutes to say, “Jesus I am here please speak to me.” He will! I know this as he did for me a sinner who struggles with the lures of the world every day.
